I’ve decided I’m going to take part in #NaNoWriMo2016. If you don’t know what NaNoWriMo is, it’s the National Novel Writing Month, where a whole bunch of people from all over try to write a 50,000 word manuscript in the month of November. It’s not easy, it’s not often fun, but it teaches a writer some important lessons in time management, speed writing, and the all-important goal of finishing your shit.
I took part in #NaNoWriMo once before. I even “won,” writing 50,000+ words with almost a week to spare. But it was a book I was not particularly proud of and I swore off the competition ever since. Now I’m giving it another shot because 1) maybe that book just wasn’t good and NaNo wasn’t to blame and more importantly 2) I’ve been staring at the outline for a new book for weeks and I need a kick in the ass to see it to completion.
If you want to track my progress, you can find me on the NaNoWriMo site here: http://nanowrimo.org/participants/kyle-warner
And if you’re joining the fight and want to be buddies, let me know and I’ll friend you back!
Now then, let the internal screaming commence.
